Today my group was merged with Steve, Hal and Elizabeth’s to do a ton of work on a home. They have been removing siding and adding new, fixing the roofing and then some framing of the backside of the house. I ended up working on the framing. The work wasn’t easier than the muddin’ out, just different; far less muggy and dirty but many more bugs (must have been bitten by 100 bugs) and possibly heavier lifting. That was pretty much the whole day. Some kids are on the roof, some are on the porch, others are working on siding and still more working on the framing. I am always a bit amazed how much work can get done when you drop a bunch of kinds on a project. After working we headed back to the recreation center for swimming and showering. The pool is nice and cool and it is refreshing after a full day of hot, humid work. After dinner (Marshall’s famous Mac and Cheese) we set up Game Awesome (the yearly team game.) This year the stations were: a three legged race with two of the suits that we used for muddin’ out duct taped together, taste testing gross flavors of baby food, a chocolate syrup drop (one kid was on the balcony and another was below and the top kid had to pour chocolate syrup in the mouth of the other…very messy), a firefly catch, and finally they had to get a gummy worm from the bottom of bowls filled with whip cream without using their hands. This game makes me laugh hard. The kids were filthy and it seemed everyone had fun.
Well off to bed.
