I had to laugh . . . because if hadn’t, panic would have prevailed.  Somehow I ended up solo (Lindy and Sajani were shopping) with 31 teenagers to brainstorm ideas for their message on a mural wall to be painted next week outside

Arniko School.  I was so grateful that Lindy and I had at least put down a bit of an outline as to how we might approach this endeavor – but it still took a lot of stamina and humor to help facilitate the kids in the process.  Believe it or not, we came a long way in an hour – and I had to keep my own biases out of the conversation – as I never would have been as ambitious as they are!  Their slogan is:  Give us a good education and we will serve the nation.  Their sub-topics for artwork are:  Environment, Child Labor, Gender Equality and Drug Addiction.

Artists have been selected and each has a group they’re working with to expand on their ideas.  Prakash is college-age, a graduate of one of the programs we support here, and a fine artist in his own right.  I was so pleased to encounter his expertise and leadership – and he has taken the reins for the next few days as the group gets settled.

WOW.  I still can’t believe I was able pull off the beginning of this project.  Time will tell how it proceeds from here.  We certainly could have spent weeks on the conceptual aspect . . . but we’re not going for perfection.
