Rachel here and I am writing with a few post trip observations. Coming back to the states I was both relieved and overwhelmed by the contrasting differences between my life hear in the United States. Because I aspire to be a surgeon one day I left for Africa with few ideas of what I would see. The first Sunday when we were there, we visited Samuel’s wife at the hospital. The first thing that I noticed, was an unfamiliar sense of both organization and sanitation. Then Fred took me and a few others to the wing of the hospital for the people “without money”. (more…)
