Same kind of morning; breakfast and out the door. My group headed back to Richard and Melissa’s trailer for more “muddin out.” Today was much warmer and more humid. They took sections of the the skirt (I think that is what it is called) off yesterday so under the trailer was aired out. Yesterday it looked a little scary under there and we did run into some gigantic spiders but today it was much better. There was a huge amount of mud under there and I can only imagine what the flood looked like. Our group split in half and took opposite sides of the trailer. Morgan, Patrick and Alex put on the mud suits and headed underneath my end while Matt, Davis and I emptied the full buckets as they passed them out and emptied the wheel barrow when it was full. Today was a really hard day of work and they were champs. Definitely some of the hardest, hottest, and dirtiest work that I’ve seen on a work trip. We worked until lunch and then headed to McDonald’s to eat our homemade sandwiches in air conditioning. After lunch I ran into the recreation center to upload the earlier posts (see “Housekeeping”.) After lunch we headed back to work, there is so much mud and debris that it is unlikely that we will finish today and quite possible not even on this trip. This afternoon it was really hot and as the day wore on you could see all of our energy levels dip. Around 4 we headed back to the church to get our stuff and head off to the community (rec center) to shower and some of us went swimming. The cool water in the pool felt refreshing. Back at the church we met with the local youth group for dinner and games afterward. Following a great game of Mafia (courtesy of Scott) they played one of the secret yearly games (and one of two that get a gigantic eye roll from me.) I’m pretty tired so off to bed. I will try to write during the day so these don’t sound so choppy.
Goodnight.
